5 Great Running Blogs You Probably Haven't Read

How many of you participate in blog linkups? Do you drop a link, read a few posts that were linked ahead of you, and move on? Or do you come back later to see what's been dropped after you linked up? One of the purposes of linkups is to help bloggers grow through supporting other bloggers. Linkups also allow you to find new blogs that you may not have learned about otherwise.

I was a runner long before I started blogging, and even then I went to linkups to read running blogs for inspiration. I was so inspired by what I read that I started my own blog. My first post, titled The Gift of Running, was published 4 years ago. That first post wasn't read by many people and it's pretty rough, but you have to start somewhere, right? While my blog has blossomed over the past 4 years, it wouldn't have happened without the support of linkups and other bloggers.

Last week, I started co-hosting duties with my friend Holly at the Weekly Wrap linkup. We had 50 linkers. Since the link up is open for 3 days, there are late linkers who don't get a lot of love from people who linked several days before. That's a shame because there are some real gems at the end of the linkup! For today's Friday 5 post, I wanted to share 5 of my late linking favorites from the Weekly Wrap.

Prepare for Adventure

Hannah is a running blogger who lives in Montana. She loves to run on trails and hike, and her pictures of her runs and adventures are amazing.

Angie lives and runs in Minnesota. Her trail run pictures are breathtaking. She also cooks up some tasty looking treats!

Running Over the Hill

Karen is a dear friend who runs and runs and runs. She's got a great little blog and her cute personality shines through every post.

Les Plus Beauxx

Maybe I'm just partial to Montana bloggers. Elizabeth lives and runs in a beautiful place. Her blog is scenic and inspiring. The title loosely translates to "the most beautiful" in French. She's been blogging for over 12 years, starting as a craft blogger, but has morphed into a running blogger since starting running in 2014.

Catherine Runs Around

Catherine is a brand new blogger who is training for Boston. Let's read and support her and help her grow!

Are you a linker and leaver or do you come back to linkups to search for hidden treasures? Have you read any of these blogs? Do you have any blogs to suggest? I plan on featuring blogs from the Weekly Wrap from time to time!

If you have any running or fitness blogging buddies who want to be part of a fun community, send them to the Weekly Wrap every Sunday-Wednesday, right here on Taking the Long Way Home or on HoHoRuns

I'm linking up with Running on Happy and Fairytales and Fitness for the Friday 5.0!

  1. I have missed the end of the line sometimes; I have also been at the end of the line so I appreciate you bringing attention to the unseen. It is nice to read new bloggers and see the world through their eyes. Thanks for sharing these Ladies!

  2. This is a really great thing to do, Wendy! I try to pop back and forth and make my way through all the linked blogs, but some weeks I just can't get it all done. I'm all about sharing the blog love ;-)

    1. Holly and I were the only commenters on some of these blogs, so I thought--why not spread the word about what people are missing?

  3. This is a great idea! I need to be better about coming back later to read more blogs. I always plan to do it over the weekend when I have more time and then I forget. I have read a few of these blogs but will have to check out the others!

  6. Yay! Glad you featured Karen! I'm a reader of her blog!

I definitely don't link and leave but I runfess that I usually only read the Weekly wrap on Sundays and Mondays. It never occurred to me that people would link up after that.

    1. She was a late linker this week, so it was great to be able to feature her!

  7. I runfess I don't come back for late linkers either. It's all I can do to cover everybody on the Tuesdays on the Run Linkup. When I started blogging there was no such thing as a linkup. I think the first one was What I Ate Wednesday. Ha!

  8. I have been a late linker before and yes, there's not a lot of love left by Tuesday! This is a wonderful idea Wendy!

  9. Hooray! I love finding new running blogs. I don't always get to the late linkers, but that is something I'm going to try to change now.

  10. Love that you did this!!! It is sometimes kind of sad the way the last few links don't get as much attention. I'll click around and read some of the ones that are there when I drop, but don't usually come back... clearly I need to. Thanks for the inspiration!

  11. What a great idea! It's hard to come back after I've read through posts on Monday. I'm prepping for the Tuesday link up, and I don't want to spend a lot of time on a computer at home since I do it all day at work.

  14. Thanks for the recommendations. I read Karen's and Elizabeth's. But there at so many great blogs and so little time.

I read more than I have time to comment on.

  15. If I have time, then I do go back -- more often than not, I don't. I read some of the blogs you mention, but not some of them -- & while I do enjoy finding new blogs, again, even when you don't work, there are only so many hours in the day! And half of them seem to be taken up by the furkids. :)

  16. I love this idea Wendy!!! Sharing the love is just the best thing ever! I'm always excited to find new blogs and these look like really great ones to add to my list!! Thank you so much for passing them along!! I love linkups because it's just so much fun coming across so many different bloggers out there!

  19. I confess that I barely manage to make it back to the people on the link ups I host, much less other ones. Sigh, someday I'll find more time in my day. I didn't even realize you were hosting the Weekly Wrap now...

  20. Karen is awesome! I love her and her blog. :) I'll have to be sure to check out these others. I try to discover new blogs in the link-ups I participate, but there is only so much time in the day/week! *sigh*

  21. Thanks for sharing! I love discovering new blogs!!

  22. Guilty. As. Charged. I try to go back and often do, but sometimes skim through and don't leave comments. Another new goal for the new year! I also try to go back to the blogs where I left comments to see the blogger's response. I don't think many people do that. So many blogs, so little time!

    1. I don't always go back to read the responses either. Altho I could check the box to be notified, right?

  28. It depends on how much time I have... sometimes I leave my link and visit a few and then come back later (like I'm doing today) :-) I'll need to definitely check these out!

  29. I hate to admit that I'm sometimes a late-linker! I always take the time to comment on most (if not all the blogs, though)! I actually start at the bottom with the latest ones since they get less love. Great post!
