As I sit down to write my recap, I can't help but reflect on the ordinariness of my week. Even though it was a good week, after all the activities I've participated in this summer, I feel like I've got nothing exciting to share. While the low-key week was much needed, we've still got a few more weeks until the official end of summer and I plan on making the most of it.
Speaking of that, maybe you didn't see this, but R'n'R sent me the video they made of my R'n'R Chicago weekend:
Rock 'n' Roll plans to use this on their Tempo blog. They call it my "moment". I call it my 50 seconds of fame. I can't believe this is me! The team at R'n'R sure did a great job of making me feel special. I love what they put together. I've probably watched it 100 times. Tell me you wouldn't have done the same thing!
After all the fun in Alabama last weekend, I took Monday off work to recover and get ready for the rest of the week. Here's how things went down:
Running: I had some great runs this week. Our weather, while cool for August, was admittedly really nice. I enjoyed some nice paces and knocked out almost 8 on Sunday. On Saturday, I met Steph for our first run together in a very long time. When I started doing run/walk intervals, I went back to solo runs. It's tough to find someone who wants to do intervals. This week on Saturday, I let those intervals go. We ran a fast paced 5 miler. She told me I pushed her. I don't know about that, but I was loving those 60 degree temps!
CrossFit: Tuesday's session with Coach Kate was fun! Steph and I alternated "stations". On Thursday, it was just me and Coach Sammy Jo, and she kicked my buns. As I write this, I'm still sore!
Yoga: I went to the studio once, but it was so perfect. I was really sore after all that waterskiing from last week, as well as the CF workouts. Carol's class was all about gratitude. Let me just say it: I have so much gratitude right now, it's oozing from my pores.
That grateful feeling lingered into the rest of the week. Grateful for some really good runs. For really good friends. For strength. For fitness. For family. For pizza. For feeling good. For well-stocked, clean portapotties. Although I would appreciate a better lock on the doors!
How about you? What are you grateful for? Was it a good week of running?
I'm linking this post up with Holly, Tricia, and guest host Michelle for the Weekly Wrap!
Looks like you had an awesome week of workouts! I was so happy to see that RnR video of you - it is awesome!
ReplyDeleteI cannot believe that it's me!
DeleteThat video is amazing! You look so happy and like some kind of rock star I love it. You have to just go watch it if you are ever feeling down and it has to cheer you up
ReplyDeleteYou are so right! How can I have a bad day with that to remind me of all that is good!
DeleteIt was a good week of running. Most of my August has been relatively uneventful, and you know what? Sometimes that's a good thing!
ReplyDeleteTrue story!
DeleteWhat a great week, and thank goodness the humidity has finally let up a bit! I'd watch that video a million times if I were you. What fun! I am so grateful for my boys. With the wedding just under 6 weeks away, we are sharing more and more special times together ~ pizza and board games galore!
ReplyDeleteSo fun! Glad you are enjoying them.
DeleteSo glad you had a good week and that running has been going well for you! What an awesome video!!
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad that running has been good!
DeleteThat video is awesome! I think the cooler weather you had earlier in the week finally made it our way. Glad you had a good week.
ReplyDeleteI won't complain at all about our weather. I've been enjoying the very tolerable conditions!
DeleteI think that video is amazing! Yes, I'd watch it more than once if was me LOL This August weather is SO freaky...it feels good, but it's way too early for it.
ReplyDeleteI'm not minding it at all. It's not cold--it's really pleasant.
DeleteLove how you incorporate so many different types of activities into your week! I try to do that too. I'm training for a half right now, so my focus is running, but I don't want to lose track of all the yoga and strength training I want to do as well!
ReplyDeleteI really love the balance of my activities. I think this keeps me healthy and on the road.
DeleteI just love that video - I'd watch it over and over again too if it were me :)
ReplyDeleteHa! Glad it isn't just me...
DeleteThey did such a great job with your video. "That's my friend!" is what I want to yell. I'm grateful for the same said friend who had Chicago style deep-dish pizza shipped to my door. YUMMY!!
ReplyDeleteNext time, we'll have that pizza in Chicago. In a restaurant!
DeleteLove the video! Fighters get things done!
ReplyDeleteI'm not taking this lying down (altho it is tempting at times!).
DeleteThat video is epic! How can you not watch it over and over? Hooray for a great week. You know it is killing me to not be able to run in these cool temps.
ReplyDeleteI won't lie, I've really been enjoying running in this weather! I hope you get to enjoy it soon.
DeleteI love that video as well. Unfortunately, I have not taken advantage of this weather. I only ran twice this week.
ReplyDeleteWhat are you waiting for?
DeleteHaha. I will get out there. 😀
DeleteLovely post! After several erratic weeks of training, I had my first good week. Tough runs, but so glad I did them. Lol @grateful for clear portapotties!
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad to hear that you had a good week! Didn't that feel great?
DeleteGOOD LORD I ADORE YOU, WOMAN.
ReplyDeleteI too have so so so much gratitude right now.
Gratitude is the attitude, right?
DeleteI absolutely LOVE that video!!! Seriously, it's amazing and something you can look back on for years. Good for you!!!
ReplyDeleteIt's a great way to recap how I feel about running--how important running is to me. Now more than ever!
DeleteI'm a fan of ordinary. I am so grateful for weeks that I can depend on. The little things, the ordinary things, they are what make the foundation of life. And I'm all about that base.
ReplyDeleteI've had so much extraordinary this summer that this week felt a little strange! I think I'm hooked on excitement.
DeleteSounds like the perfect week to me. And I LOVE you 50 seconds of fame! Such an awesome video, girl. xxoo
ReplyDeleteI'm so happy that they chose to feature me!
DeleteLove the video! Looks like you had an awesome week!
ReplyDeleteI had a really good week of running - I even conquered a long run (for me) of 6 miles yesterday and I was so proud of myself! Hoping for another good week :)
Have a great day!
Good for you! That had to feel great. I'm working on upping my miles again, for some fall races. The beat goes on...
DeleteWhat a great run! Hope you have a wonderful week.
ReplyDeleteSo fun!
DeleteWhaaat?! How cool! Love the video!
ReplyDeleteThanks!! It was so much fun to be a part of.
DeleteI gravitate to gratitude. People who practice being grateful are so magnetic and uplifting. Not the people who stuff and pretend and white knuckle things, no no. The ones who are able to stop, breathe, talk through the hard stuff and then focus on the things they're thankful for. My dad taught me this through his (28 year long) sobriety journey. You've got such a good attitude, and I am so inspired by you and admire your tenacity so much.
ReplyDeleteMy dad is so negative and poor me all the time. I hate it. He's been so blessed and can't see it. It's hard to listen to. I think that's why I'm not like that.
DeleteAn ordinary week, getting to do your usual things? Sign me up. That's the good life; glad you had your version of normal. :)
ReplyDeleteThis summer has been anything but normal, but it feels good to slow down again. You know you're busy when you start longing for a rainy day on the couch!
DeleteAwesome and active week! Do you prefer running solo or with a friend?
ReplyDeleteI like a mix of both. Sometimes I need to be in my head, but I enjoy running alongside someone I love!
DeleteUmm, THAT video was so awesome!!! Such a great memory to have!
ReplyDeleteThank you! I'm so happy how it turned out!
DeleteGratitude is such a great feeling to have! Glad things are going well for you!
ReplyDeleteI'm hoping to ride this wave for a while!
DeleteI love that video so much! And it's cool that they're going to post it on their blog. I think the reason I rarely post weekly recaps is that I think most my weeks are pretty boring. I ran. I worked. I ran. I worked. You get the idea.
ReplyDeleteI always try to jazz up my recaps--there's always a spin you can put on it, but this week was so low-key compared to the rest of my summer that I just let it be.
DeleteSometimes, an ordinary week is just what the body needs. Great video from RnR! It's such a great organization and I am so happy to work with them.
ReplyDeleteI am grateful for so many things - my family, my friends, the new people we have in our lives, the strength I am finding to lead in areas where I find myself wanting to make a difference. Gratitude is such an important part of the balance.
It feels good to feel grateful!
DeleteSo glad to hear you felt good last week. Don't you love how once you start not feeling great a ton/are injured/etc, you truly appreciate the times you do feel good?! I'm finding that same thing now.
ReplyDeleteIt's so true! I'm just so grateful for all that I've been able to do this summer.
DeleteSeriously love seeing your video again and again!! <3
ReplyDeleteIt's been a long time since I've been able to run interval free. I still need to use them, but Saturday's run felt great!
ReplyDeleteOMG, that video is AWESOME!!!! Congratulations all around!!!!!
ReplyDeleteThank you!
DeleteOh Wendy! I had not seen this video until now and man how do you not have a dry eye! That is just amazing! How awesome!
ReplyDeleteWait did I miss something? Where is Becky?
Becky moved to Las Vegas to work with Cirque du Soleil! Can you even believe it?
DeleteLove the RnR video!! That is so cool and I would watch it 100 times too if that were me. :) Nice week too! Running with friends is the best!
ReplyDeleteI'm probably up to 200 times watching it now...
