Let's catch up over coffee! It feels like we just did this, but here we are again. What are you having? I've got home brewed Starbucks French Roast with the usual GLG collagen and a splash of half and half. I have received a few Starbucks gift cards this year and I need to spend them!
What would you tell me over coffee?
If we were having coffee... I'd tell you that flying into Palm Springs is a joy. We disembarked on the runway and walked through the small, open airport. I love it! What I didn't love was the guy sitting next to me who brought lo mein noodles to eat on the plane. I almost gagged from the smell. Even better, he didn't have utensils or napkins, so he ate the entire thing with his hands, which he wiped on his pants. Oh, but wait, there's more! After he finished, he picked up the bowl and poured the remaining sauce into his mouth.
If we were having coffee... I'd tell you that when I opened my laptop after my trip, half the screen was blurred. We guessed that water must have gotten into it while it was in my bag. So odd because everything in my bag was dry. I've been leaving my laptop open and the spot continues to shrink. As we speak it is very small. I hope it completely clears.
If we were having coffee... I'd share with you that Cari asked me if I saw the Cabazon dinosaurs while I was in California. If you've seen Pee-wee's Big Adventure, you know what she was talking about. On our way to Santa Barbara, I made Lisa stop so I could take a Pee-wee imitation selfie. When I sent it to my sons, they knew exactly what it was. I raised them right, didn't I? And no, I didn't go inside--I didn't want to push my luck with my sister, lol
If we were having coffee... I'd tell you that I got my first 'senior' discount while in California! Lisa and I went to the Santa Barbara Botanic Gardens and I saved $4 dollars on my admission. I don't like being 60 but I'm not too proud to partake in a discount! The gardens were lovely, but Lisa and I both agreed that the Chicago Botanic Gardens pretty much ruin you for anything else.
If we were having coffee... I'm excited to tell you that we got to see my oldest's new home last weekend! He's still in the process of moving all his stuff from his old place as well as unpacking while working 7 days per week. He is also looking for a renter for the upstairs apartment. It's a great neighborhood and seems like a good investment. I'm just so proud of him!
What would you tell me over coffee? Have you ever sat next to someone on the plane who ate something disgusting? Have you ever gotten water under your laptop screen? Senior discounts anyone? Do you know about the dinosaurs from PeeWee?
I'm linking up with Coco and Deborah for the Ultimate Coffee Date and with the ladies of Fit Five Friday: Darlene, Michelle, Renee, Jenn, and Zenaida.
Lo mein is a disgusting thing to being to eat on a plane, just saying. I refrained from eating trail mix when we were packed in on Southwest. Haha! T's house looks so nice! Congrats to him!
ReplyDeleteI always bring trail mix with me, but for this longish flight, i had a sandwich. I don't think I've ever been so disgusted by another human being and that's saying a lot since you know what I do for a living!
DeleteI felt the same way when I got off the plane in Palm Springs...
ReplyDeleteI've been a senior or a while and I love the discounts... it gets even better when you hit 65.
Congrats to your son on his new house!!
I'm not minding the senior discounts but I do mind being a senior, lol
Deletelol on your plane seat mate! I have had some weird plane encounters as well. Congrats to your son on his new home. I am not familiar with the dinosaur :)
ReplyDeleteYou must not be a Pee-wee fan, lol
DeleteI saw Pee Wee's Big Adventure so long ago, the only thing I remember is one of my favorite lines from a movie, ever; "Everyone I know has a big "but"..."
ReplyDeleteI'm laughing about the lo mein story, but it's so gross!!! And he was sitting next to you... which means practically in your lap, the way planes are now. I guess you won't be eating lo mein for a long time.
Congratulations to your son- that's exciting! I would be proud too.
Yeah, that was probably the most disgusting thing I've seen in a long time.
DeleteCongrats to your son! Isn't it fun seeing them grown up and celebrating their accomplishments?
ReplyDeleteI love getting senior discounts, but usually don't ask, just look for signs.
Ugh on the lo mein story. That's just rude, but it sounds like the guy didn't have a manors anyway.
Yes, it's so great to see these boys growing up and making me proud!
DeleteI would have had a hard time with that seat mate.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations to your son! That's so awesome!
I was struggling...

ReplyDeleteCheers
I'm not ready for winter! But I do appreciate the beauty of a good snowfall.
DeleteOMG that seat mate! Lo Mein with his hands?!?
ReplyDeleteCongrats to your son - looks like a great place!
I'm so proud of him!!!
DeleteYes, it is nice to see our "kids" do all these adult things, isn't it? Congrats to your son! I have a bionic sense of smell, so I would have been gagging (#understatement) on that plane, say nothing about the dude's mannerisms.
ReplyDeleteIt was just such a confined space! Truly one of my worst flying experiences.
DeleteCongrats to your son! That looks like a beautiful building. I cannot imagine eating noodles with your hands and then wiping them on your pants. So gross!
ReplyDeleteHe did ok! I hope he finds a renter soon.
DeleteEww on gross airplane guy! Open airports are cool -- Hawaii has some. Unless you're traveling with your furkids -- they can get lost that way.
ReplyDeleteWe were able to buy a National Park Senior pass since Mr. Judy is now 62. AND I got 10% of the lodge -- that was a saving of $90+ (you only had to be 60 for that one). Age (so far) has never bothered me and I'll take a discount anytime, thank you.
Your son's new home looks great!
My brother in law has the National Park senior pass! What an awesome deal. Love that you get a discount on the lodge too. Glad that you haven't let aging bother you. I am struggling.
DeleteI may or may not still carry around my college student ID to get student discounts... :D..
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry to hear about your laptop! I hope the rest of it clears soon.
I'll need to check out the botanic gardens over in Chicago next time I go! I didn't get a chance to last time!
If you do, let me know so I can go with you!
DeleteUgh on the soup eater. I bet he slurped it too. :-P
ReplyDeleteHuge congrats to your son -- funny how similar it is to what mine is doing. These young men are pretty savvy.
I'd have no shame taking advantage of a senior discount. You've earned it! Sounds like I need to check out the Botanic Gardens next time I have free time in Chicago.
(Trying to comment again while Google is cooperating)
Thankfully I didn't hear the slurping over the airplane noise. It was plenty gross on its own.
DeleteSo great to see his new home and that he's all settled in. I really like the photo with the Dinosaur! So cool. And as for my coffee, I am loving the holiday flavors at Starbucks right now. But my wallet is not.
ReplyDeleteOh I'm loving the Holiday blends as well!
DeleteHahah. So glad I influenced a dinosaur visit. That's the influencer in my DNA :D
ReplyDeleteCongrats to your oldest, what a great accomplishment. And yes, you absolutely raised them right.
I loved that you knew about the Cabazon dinosaurs. You're my kinda people!
