About Me

"40 is the old age of youth, 50 is the youth of old age"--Victor Hugo

Ok, so I'm young again. Married mom of 2 teenage boys, this running thing has got me through life for the last 20-odd years. Recently diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis, I look at this new challenge to just motivate me even more. I've always refused to be defined by my age, and now I won't be defined by my diagnosis. I can't stop and I won't stop!

I'm not a girly girl, a red hat lady...don't like bunco or bridge. I'm not good at small talk. My job as a pediatric nurse practitioner has me talking all day and running alone is heaven.

My favorite distance is the half marathon, and I've done plenty of them. I've done all the distances except the ultra. For me running is fun, and I want to keep it that way. Training plans, speed work, repeats, hill work...that's like a job! I'll do the work I need to do to meet my goals but have begun exploring alternative ways of training. I've incorporated cross fit into my regimen and am pleased with the results I'm seeing. I also do yoga to maintain flexibility, and I have a road bike for cross training as well.

Come along for a run! Or a ride...

  1. I'm so glad I found you through the Take The Leap challenge! I'm going to read all of your running posts now :) I'd love to hear about how you eased back into running post-baby. The thought of that terrifies me!
