Coffee Talk

Let's catch up over a cup of coffee! What are you having? I'm drinking a cup of Philz Julie's Ultimate, a new-to-me brand that the hubs gifted me for Christmas. With a scoop of GLG collagen and a splash of half and half, it's like heaven in a coffee mug.

What would you tell me over coffee?

If we were having coffee... remember that new coffee maker the hubs gifted me? Well, when he finally decided to try it out for himself, he emptied the pod that holds that grounds and brewed himself a cup. When I later brewed myself a cup of grounds, I realized that he had thrown out the filter. It took a week to receive the replacement I ordered from Amazon. Meanwhile, I used paper filters that didn't work well at all. Let's just say it's nice to have a cup of coffee and not have to pick grounds out of my mouth!

If we were having coffee... I'd share a little more about my oldest, who was working in Oregon for a couple of weeks in December. With 24 hours notice, the company asked him and 9 other guys to travel out there to work on wind turbines. They made it really lucrative and it was basically an offer no one could turn down. We thought he'd be home for Christmas, but the company really sweetened the deal. As a new homeowner, how could we begrudge him for staying out there? It was a great experience for him and I could not be more proud of him.

If we were having coffee... I'd tell you what a wonderful couple of weeks we had over the holidays. With not everyone in my family being here at Christmas, we were able to extend the holiday through New Year's. On New Year's eve, we went out to my parents' house to see my youngest sister and her family who were visiting from New York. And on New Year's Day, my oldest and his girlfriend joined us for a belated Christmas celebration. My youngest drove back down from Madison and once again, my heart was full!

If we were having coffee... I'd tell you that I deactivated my Twitter account. There were several things that prompted this, but what really made me call it quits is that every time I clicked-to-tweet other bloggers' posts, I would get a bunch of new follows from women who looked like porn stars. Maybe it was a bot, but I want no part of that. One less social media account=more time to do other things.

If we were having coffee... I'd tell you that we finally replaced the hubs iMac desktop computer. It was 12 years old and even after I cleaned it up, it still didn't work well. We replaced it with another iMac and as always, it wows us with all it can do! Well, at least one of us is wowed.

What would you tell me over coffee? How were your holidays? Have you deactivated any social media accounts? Are you enjoying any new fun holiday gifts?

I'm linking up with Coco and Deborah for the Ultimate Coffee Date and with the ladies of Fit Five Friday:  DarleneMichelleReneeJenn, and Zenaida.

  1. Is T still away doing the wind project? Very cool opportunity. Glad the holidays were so enjoyable for you. It was the first time we had boyfriends in the holiday mix here. I really had to hone my gift-giving skills. Haha!

    1. He came home right before New Years. So glad we got to see him--I missed him!!! Yes, I had to gift his girlfriend and I don't think I did a good job...

  2. My activity on Twitter has gone down a lot - it really is turning into a dumpster fire so I'm willing to bet my account won't be active much longer either.

That wind turbines project sounds like quite an adventure - good for him! So glad you got to enjoy some extended holiday time with family :)

  3. That's great that you had such a lovely holiday!

I have my blog linked to twitter but I never even look at Twitter. Is that wrong? I do get porn sites commenting onmy Channel sometimes though . . .

Our desktop is also old and we were planning to get a new one at the end of the year and then my frugal husband backed out. Which I think is a mistake. It will effect me the most if it crashes. Although it will effect him because I'll probably have to take over his laptop. :)

OTOH we just ordered a new dishwasher and have ongoing plumbing problems . . .

    1. My hubs is pretty frugal but I am not and when he complained, I just went ahead and ordered. He didn't say a peep, lol

  4. I'm in the market for a new computer, so I should check-out some info on the iMac. We use Macs at work, and I have really grown to prefer those over my at-home set-up. Your son's Oregon excursion sounds like it was a great opportunity!

    1. I have a Dell at work and while the laptop itself is fine, the docking station they have me use is a joke. I'm on my 3rd or 4th one!

  6. If I go to my old computer, I can comment! Sounds like a really unique opportunity for your son. That's neat! Glad you could all be together last week. LOL on the coffee machine. I could totally see my hubs doing something like that. Thankfully, my coffee machine is all mine! I have a twitter account but don't use it very often. No porn stars here

  7. I'm glad both your sons could be home for New Years! Yes, you got to extend the Christmas season for an extra week.
That's funny about the coffee maker... well, maybe not so funny for you. I'll bet your husband felt bad! I got a rice cooker for Christmas and have been using it a LOT. Who knew I needed such a thing?

    1. We probably eat rice once a week. Kind of curious--do you cook brown rice in your rice maker?

  10. That's the benefit of having TWO kids - one of them will usually be around. So glad that your son got that Oregon opportunity!
I only have Twitter to follow two people who comment on my blog... other than that, I would have quit it as well. I'm trying to avoid any new social media accounts. I'm not even on Instagram - are you?

  11. ooh I would have been peeved about the filter! nothing worse then a bunch of coffee grounds in your cup (and teeth)! So glad you had such great family time for the holidays! wonder if your son would ever be called to come out here? we are wind turbine country!! very cool opportunity for him in any case. I do think twitter is a huge pile of steamy mess at the moment but I find it such a good place to "scream into the void" :D so basically because no one responds to me anyway there I can just complain as much as I want LOL.

    1. I don't think he'd be called to Europe--there's a lot of wind turbines right here in the US! But it is a fun idea.

  12. Aw, I'm glad he was able to come back for New Year's though! Great that you got to spend time with your family over the holidays. <3

I haven't deactivated anything yet but my activity on twitter has definitely decreased by a bunch. ._.

  14. That is so cool your husband got a new iMac. What are you doing to do with the old one? I bought mine in 2020 when we began working from home and love it. I have a love/hate relationship with Twitter. Sometimes the conversation there fascinates me.
