Coffee Talk

Let's catch up over coffee! Did you know that yesterday was National Coffee Day? Every day is coffee day at my house! Anyway, I just love this monthly coffee date. I'm having my usual Dunkin with a scoop of GLG collagen and a splash of half and half. What are you having? What would you tell me over coffee?

Happify sets a positive tone to my day!

If we were having coffee... I'd start right off by sharing with you the terrible time I'm having with malware, specifically Search Baron, on my new laptop. Apparently, the losers who have nothing but time on their hands have come up with a way to hijack the browsers of Mac users. Instead of being able to search on Google, I get redirected to a different search engine which is just full of ads, related to my search term. I have spent countless hours on this, including using guaranteed 'malware software' to eliminate it. Nothing will get rid of it. It doesn't affect anything else on my computer, but trying to do a Google search is very frustrating.

If we were having coffee... on a more positive note, I'd tell you that for my birthday this month, I got my car detailed. Trail running and our many trips to the lake really trashed my Jeep. Normally, I am really good about maintaining my car but with my broken ankle and foot, it kind of got away from me. My parents gave me this as my birthday gift and let me tell you...it's like having a new car again. It even has the new car smell. It was such a treat and if you've never given your car the spa treatment, I highly recommend it!

If we were having coffee... I'd tell you that I'm gearing up to start the Mammoth Challenge! For the month of October, the Ice Age Trail Alliance is hosting this 41 mile hiking challenge. While 41 miles over a month isn't a big deal, the main challenge is to do the miles on different trails and to visit at least 3 host towns. I'm excited to have a goal this month and I'll keep you posted on all my hikes!

If we were having coffee... I'd ask you if you remember my succulent obsession from early in the pandemic. Succulent Studios was sending me 2 plants per month and I ended up with so many plants that I canceled my membership. Oddly enough, this year they started sending me plants again. I was going to cancel right away, but the plants they have been sending are so interesting that I'm riding it out. A few of the more fun plants have died and now I want to replace them. Clearly, I need to get back to running again.

If we were having coffee... I'd share that my sister and I are planning a sister trip at the end of October!! I have been working so much that I had to take some time back, so we decided to make it happen. We are going to Jackson Hole, Wyoming! I am so excited. My sister is the ultimate trip planner, so I have no doubt this will be another really fun trip. This will be our 9th sister trip since we started doing this--last year was the only year we didn't go anywhere, thanks to chemo and covid. Glad to be moving on...

Everywhere we go!

What would you tell me over coffee? Have you ever experienced your browser being hijacked? I'd love some expertise if there are any Apple technicians out there. Is anyone else doing the Mammoth Challenge? Do you have succulents? Have you ever had your car detailed? Do you have any trips planned?

I'm linking up with Coco and Deborah for the Ultimate Coffee Date and with the ladies of Fit Five Friday:  DarleneMichelleReneeJenn, and Zenaida.

  1. When Greg and I were dating I went on a trip and for some reason that escapes me now, left my car in his garage. When I returned to find it totally detailed, I knew he was a keeper. Haha! The Mammoth Challenge sounds fun!
I still have a huge pot of succulents I got at Home Depot 3 years ago. I drag them outside in summer and in for winter and they are happy!

    1. I have some of my succulents outside for the summer as well. We'll see what happens when I bring them back in this fall.

  2. My husband has had his car detailed. Me, never. I don't really care about cars, which is part of why mine is 21 years old -- going for 22!

Have fun with your challenge -- it definitely sounds like fun. And on your sister trip! That's going to be amazing. So happy your sister is doing so well.

  4. I've never heard of that particular malware. If you search for it online (on a different device), in tech forums, does anything helpful come up on how to get rid of it?

Sadly no trips for me yet. I'll wait until next year when I'll take ALL the trips! Lol. Jackson Hole sounds amazing, I'm looking forward to your posts and impressions of it.

The Mammoth Challenge sounds like a fun goal for the month.

  5. Yikes on the malware! Can you scrub your computer or would that be too much of a pain?

Your sister trip sounds like a lot of fun. I wish someone would plan a getaway for me.

    1. Yes, scrubbing my computer would be a pain. It's stupid malware.

  6. I have never heard of such boring malware! I am not so expert, so for the most difficult problems I need the help of my son.
The Mammoth Challenge sounds interesting: visiting different places makes it more challenging.
Enjoy the trip with your sister.

  7. My car desperately needs some love...perhaps I need to drop a hint to my husband for our anniversary.

The Mammoth Challenge sounds like a good one!

And yay for a sister-getaway! Jackson Hole is on my bucket list. So nice to have some time away to look forward to.

  8. Hawaiian White Chocolate Strawberry Truffle coffee in the mug today. It's a mouthful and it is delicious ;)

Running is going great these days. 7 miles this morning under 10 m/m (fast for me) and only one walk break.

We just planned a trip in November. Friends are getting married in San Jose the Friday before Thanksgiving and we'll be spending Thanksgiving in the Fresno area with my family. We're spending 5 days in Yosemite in between and I'm really looking forward to it.

  9. No succulents here! I used to love cacti but they and cats just don't mix, in fact these particular cats and anything ...

    1. Lol, thankfully Cocoa doesn't care much about my plants, except for my cherry tomatoes. She eats them right off the vine.

  10. The Mammoth Challenge really sounds exciting, especially with having to utilize the different trails. At one time, long before kids, I had 40+ houseplants. I have no idea how I kept up with them...the handful I have now are constantly getting neglected. Your succulents sound like a nice alternative.

  11. Hmm, I had a problem with a browser hijacker but it was on my old PC. I had to bring it to "PC Wizard" to get it all cleaned up. So I know how annoying it is.
Your sister trip sounds AMAZING!!! I can't wait to hear all about it (and see lots of pictures.)
The Mammoth Challenge is the perfect thing to keep you occupied this month while you're still healing. You would have hiked anyway, but it's fun to have a focus like that. Again, I want to hear all about it!

  12. Ugh. I hate people who have nothing better to do than to develop malware. :[

That's awesome about your car! I finally cleaned my windows while getting gas yesterday, but the interior is in desperate need of a decluttering, haha.

That sounds like a fun challenge! I've been meaning to try to find more trails nearby to explore. Looking forward to hearing more about it!

  13. I thought things like that could not happen on a Mac computer. I guess I was wrong! That meme is pretty funny. Next week will be one year since I bought my car. I do my best to keep it clean but sometimes do not do a good job. I would love to get it detailed too.

    1. I was surprised that I could get malware on my Mac, but apparently, we are vulnerable too.

  14. I am SO looking forward to following along ( or reading a recap) of your sister trip to Wyoming. As you know, my sister and I always travel together and over the years I have become quite intrigued with Wyoming! It has gone from one of those states that I never cared to visit to really wanting to stay in one of those fancy cabins with a great view....haha

  15. I am a killer of all plants, so no. No succulents here.

I love the idea of your sister trip! That sounds so amazing! We are going to Savannah, Safety Harbor, and Charleston before the year is out, and I'm so excited. We are also planning to do a DC trip for Spring Break. Fingers crossed.

    The Mammoth Challege sounds fabulous!
