Coffee Talk

Disclaimer: This post contains affiliate links.

Let's catch up over coffee! I was so happy to find that Starbucks Spring Day Blend again this year at Target. I've got that brewing and as always, I'm adding a scoop of GLG collagen and a splash of half and half. What are you having?

Speaking of Target, if we were having coffee, I'd tell you that I found the most amazing pots for my succulents in the dollar section there. And yes, they are $1. I've been planting my newest arrivals from the succulent subscription box in them and they are thriving! I even went back and bought a bunch more, sharing a few with my father-in-law. Call me a hoarder, call me a crazy plant lady, but I'm happy to see them happy.

Dinner table? No, plant table.

If we were having coffee, I'd comment that Cocoa is probably the craziest dog that I have ever owned. She loves fruits and veggies--she's been known to eat tomatoes off the plants in the summer! She doesn't come when she's called but she hears me cutting up produce on the cutting board and comes in to beg. Right now she loves those little tangerines aka 'cuties' and gets pretty aggressive when I'm eating them. My hubs just shakes his head...

Powered by plants!

If we were having coffee, I'd ask you if you were getting the 4th dose of covid vaccine? That is if you are eligible. Being immunosuppressed, I've been eligible for a few months but I haven't gotten mine yet. The Covid case numbers are really low right now and since I had a strong reaction to the last booster, I want to wait to see what happens. I'm still masking at work and when I go to the store. You all know I follow the science and if you want to read vetted information from an epidemiologist, click here or here if you want answers to common questions about the 4th dose. The way she breaks down the science and explains everything is really good.

If we were having coffee, I'd tell you that I have 2 summer weddings this year and I have nothing to wear. I can't remember the last time I bought a dress for a summer wedding. The struggle is real, my friends.

If we were having coffee, I'd ask if you are watching the new season of Bridgerton? Apparently, not everyone is enjoying it as much as last year--some people are complaining that it isn't as steamy. How could it be without the Duke? He sure was yummy. There isn't anyone to compare to him this season, in my opinion, but I am enjoying the storyline so far!

What would you tell me over coffee? Have you found any fun things at Target lately? Do you have a dog that eats unusual foods? Covid booster, yay or nay? No judgment, just curious. Where do you find cute dresses? Are you watching Bridgerton this season? Any other good shows you'd recommend?

I'm linking up with Coco and Deborah for the Ultimate Coffee Date and with the ladies of Fit Five Friday:  DarleneMichelleReneeJenn, and Zenaida.

  1. I watched about half of the first Bridgerton episode, but haven't watched more yet. Generally what little tv I watch is with my husband, and that definitely is not his thing.

Bandit also loves produce -- and cuties, too! He's not aggressive about it. I swear you'd think we never fed the dog.

My sister has a FL wedding to go to in a few weeks - black tie, no less -- she's trying to diet her way into an old dress. Which she'll probably do. Only one of my nieces & nephews are married, and while we were invited to the wedding, none of us on the east coast went.

I've had reactions to the vaccines & the booster. I am not planning to get the fourth anytime soon.

  2. I just went to a baby shower and that was weird. I can't even imagine going to a wedding. Haha! It's hard to get dressed up when one is so out of practice. I am vacillating on the vaccine. I feel like I don't "need" it. Plant-based Cocoa is so pretty!

  3. I bought a pretty dress at Penny's when my son got married 5 years ago. Have fun shopping.
I am in no hurry to get a 4th covid shot just now been 5 months since the last one. Like you I still wear a mask when I go into stores and of course doctors offices.

    1. I am not a fan of shopping, so I've been trolling online stores. And then there's the whole shoe dilemma.

  4. I'd be having a cappuccino from the best place in Gaborone - The Daily Grind. :-) Those pots are gorgeous, I saw similar ones at my local plant store the other day and didn't buy them because they were so expensive! So I'm really envious of the bargain you got! Covid numbers here are very low now which is such a relief. But we're still required by law to mask up in public places. We no longer need a PCR test to cross the border but we do need to show proof of vaxx. One of my cat absolutely loves watermelon! As soon as he smells it, he is on the table waiting for his piece!

    1. I'm still so shocked at the price of the pots. It makes me wonder how they are so cheap!

  5. Max has a very discerning ear, and knows the difference between the various plastic wrappers or bags that come from the fridge. He's unresponsive until he "hears" the shredded cheese bag, then he's at my feet in 2 seconds. I'm waiting out dose #4 as well...the first three all did a number on me.

    1. Cocoa only has one ear, so it is truly amazing how well she can hear the slightest thing...like a potato chip hitting the floor!

  6. Scooby begs from my husband but not from me — I wonder why that is? ;-) He gets a lick of milk from his cereal bowl and a few pieces of popcorn. He has no interest in produce!

I am holding out for higher case counts before I get my booster — or maybe summer when I’ll be in the office more. I do have some trips coming up in April, but my first booster was late December, so I’m still within the 4 month window.

    1. Yes, Mike always gives me a hard time about giving Cocoa treats!

  7. How funny that Cocoa likes fruits and veggies. My pup seems to have a real thing for popcorn and pita chips - so odd!

I didn't have the best reaction to the booster either so I'm going to wait on the 4th dose. The counts are low here - though I am returning to the office so we'll see how that goes.

I'm having a hard enough time getting use to the idea of dressing for the office again - I don't think I'd know what to do for a wedding ;)

  8. wow that is a lot of plants! :) I just finished the second season of Bridgerton. It did get a little steamier but not like last year. I told my hubs he needs to start calling me "my lady" that did not really go over well :) I am thinking I will get the 4th dose this week. We have a ton of travel coming up starting in May and 2 of my friends just got covid for the first time. I never had a reaction so I figured why not

  9. So here's what my doctor told me- she doesn't recommend getting any Covid boosters at this point. She said the first two shots- combined with the fact that I had Covid in December- have given my body all the tools it needs to fight off Covid if I'm exposed again. I'm not saying she's right or wrong, that was just her opinion. The numbers are also really low here so I'm not getting any shots in the near future.
Luckily no one has invited me to any weddings this summer because I have no idea what SHOES I would wear. I seriously haven't worn anything but running shoes in the past year, with a couple exceptions where I put on my "nicer" sneakers. I don't think my feet will fit into anything else at this point. Good luck with the dress- show us pictures of your outfit!

    1. I definitely am having shoe anxiety as well. My feel cannot do heels. I'm going to have to figure this out.

  10. Yes Yes on the Booster. Tomorrow. No judgment but why not??? Any reaction is better than getting COVID or giving it to someone else. End of rant.

I watch the first season of Bridgerton. It grew on me esp Duke. I plan when I have time to watch Season two. Love the Guilded Age on HBO Max.

The last wedding I went to was my stepson in 2019. I am glad that no one has invited me to any. I cannot wear dress shoes!!

    1. No judgment but a rant? LOL Darlene, don't hold back! Seriously, I do plan on getting the booster, but I want to wait until after my races are done, as long as the counts stay low.

  11. We got our first booster in January, so I'm not sure if we're even eligible yet.

I attended 4 weddings last year - one in each season. I bought a couple of dresses from Amazon. I took a chance, looked very closely at measurements (US size 6 = Asian size L or XL) and made sure they were on Prime so I could return them if I needed to. I ended up very happy with them.

    1. I've been eyeing dresses on Amazon! They are so well priced. I'm just worried about sizes.

  12. Love the option of the 4th booster but I'm going to wait on it as I've had the three and a + rapid flow test so I'm pretty well protected from what I read. I have heard that you should try switching MRNA brands when you boost. Potential for fewer side effects and a different T cell response which is the part that they think keeps you out of hospital (and the links you provided seem to agree with this). We'll see how things go with the next few waves. I have a great glass container from the Target dollar spot that I just love for cookies and almost all of my cute dresses come from Anthropologie.

  13. You have two summer weddings to go to! How exciting!
I'm guessing it's not your sons that are getting married. :-)
I have the same outfit problem. My nephew is getting married in July. It's a destination wedding in Italy. I'm looking forward to it - but I first need to solve what I'm going to wear!

    1. No, it's my nephew getting married. Also a friend's son. I'm definitely not ready for my boys to be married! They're too young.

  14. That is so funny about Cocoa! My first cat, Princess, loved corn. I went to a wedding a few weeks ago and ended up wearing a dress that I wore a few years ago - luckily it still fit! Not sure if I will get the 4th shot. My mother wants to.

  16. I love all the succulents. My Luna loves fruit, except bananas, I guess she’s not a true runner.
I don’t plan on getting another booster.

  17. I love your plant table! Can't believe the pots were so inexpensive at Target...good find! I haven't been to Target in a while but I was contemplating a trip yesterday lol.

Cocoa eats more veggies than I do, it seems :)) My pets only beg for cheese and bacon.

In my town there are some consignment boutiques and they have lots of name brand dresses and accessories, sometimes new with tags. There's also Macy's, TJ Maxx, Nordstrom Racks...

  18. I have my first wedding for years this summer but it's my lovely running friend Claire and her partner, and she has only seen me in a skirt once, I think, so I'm going to pick something out of my wardrobe. Also it's in at a campsite so I need something I can wear with my sparkly trainers ...

And I would get my 4th if I could but not eligible. Covid is at its highest EVER here and it's just run through the parkrun core team.

  19. I'm not eligible for the booster yet. My office is back the majority of the time and no one masks- anywhere really- anymore. But to be honest, I'm more worried about getting a nasty cold before Boston! So I'm still masking when in crowds and sanitizing my hands like crazy. The last marathon I ran before the pandemic (Atlanta March 1 2020!) I ran with a terrible cold; I don't think people would appreciate that anymore!

Anyways, I love that Cocoa loves fruits and veggies so much! Our pups def like carrots, but I don't think they've tried fruits.

Anthro has great dresses (sometimes). Nordstrom can be okay; I've had so much foot pain lately from my widening/growing foot, I don't plan on wearing heels ever, but a pair of Rothy's flat will do just fine.

    Good luck!

    1. I usually love Anthro but I'm not loving anything they have right now! I found a dress at Macy's--we'll see how it looks on me. I wish I could just wear my running shoes or my Danskos.

  20. Your succulents are so cute!! :D I'd be a hoarder too for such cute plants (I have 2 so far, but if we manage to settle into a house anytime in the next couple years, the collection will be growing!!)

Definitely laughed pretty hard on the Pfizer loyalty card! :P I'm still a ways away from a free pizza, but if they change/update recommendations, off I go again. :P
