Little Miss Runfessions

Didn't it seem like July just flew by? It's been a fun, busy month for me. Here we are, on the last Friday of the month, meeting to share our runfessions. I'm always grateful to Marcia for opening the runfessional every month and letting us cleanse our soles and our souls. As usual, I have a few things to share.

Can I just kick it off by runfessing how much I love these Little Miss and Little Mr memes?

As many of you know, I've been taping my knee since that fall on the trails a few weeks ago. Old lady falling...it's a tale as old as time and oops! I did it again this week. Anyway, I runfess... that when I removed the Rock tape I had been using to change it, I realized that I had the most interesting tan line! Hopefully with the McConnell taping that my PT is using, things will even out. This one is as bad as the sock or watch tan line that we runners get.

I was running on the bike path a few weeks ago when I was stopped by a walker who asked me if taping my knee 'really worked'. I runfess that I wanted to respond by telling her no, I just think it looks cool, but instead, I told her it was helpful but that it has to be applied correctly. And by the way, thanks for stopping me in the middle of my run.

The Rock Tape worked well enough to get me to
the fastest 5k I've run in a long time and an AG award.

I runfess... that as much as I dislike Reels, I finally gave in and started posting some on IG. With the changes to IG, my views were way down. IG really likes Reels and pushes them out. It really bothers me, but sometimes you have to play the game, I guess. Meanwhile, the Kardashians are complaining. Stay tuned.

On the street art running tour, I took with Erica earlier this month, she took many pictures and videos of us running and looking at the beautiful murals. I runfess... that during one video, I asked a woman who was pushing a stroller if she wanted to join us. She happily obliged! And once again, can I say what an amazing experience this was?

I runfess...
that on my most recent visit to see Holly, my running shoes didn't leave my suitcase. Normally we plan a race or at least a run. But this time, we spent all our time on the water. I don't think I've ever skied so much. I hate to admit it, but I didn't miss running at all. I'll share more of my trip on this week's rundown.

Would you trade this for a run in the Alabama heat?

What do you have to runfess? Do you like the Little Miss memes? Has your IG changed and if so, how do you feel about it? Reels--yes or no? How are you dealing with the heat this summer?

I'm linking up with Marcia for Runfessions and with the ladies of Fit Five Friday: DarleneMichelle, Jenn, and Zenaida.

  1. looks like you and Holly had a blast together! I am looking forward to our adventures in a few weeks. I have also gotten better at reels but they are not my favorite and they take way more time to do. Just hoping FB does not cave in and join them-there are rumors that may happen

    1. I am getting better at Reels but I definitely prefer posting and looking at still photos. I wish these platforms would pick a theme and stick with it!

  2. I figured I needed to do reels or get off the platform so I do reels. I don't care for them either and like Deborah said, they take way more time and effort. Ugh. Glad you and Holly had some more fun!

    1. I'm with you on Reels. I won't deny that I enjoy picking out songs to fit my reels. But that's about it!

  3. I do not like Reels at all. Nada. And the Little Miss memes are getting on my nerves. Aren't I a ray of sunshine today? :-) I didn't think it was too hot this week but I know next week it will be warmer. Hopefully the rest of August isn't too bad.

  4. Haha! Next time you get asked about the tape please say "I just think it looks cute!" LOL! I honestly love IG for the still photos - and I in turn love posting stills, but I've noticed a definite dip in viewership, so that must be it. Well done for giving the reels a go though. So glad you and Holly had so much fun!

    1. I'm with you on the still photos, but I'm game for Reels. Looks like we have no choice.

  5. I'm still not a fan of reels and have only started posting some occasionally. As Deborah & Marcia mentioned, they just take so much time - probably because I have no idea what I'm doing LOL! Looks like you and Holly had a blast!

    1. They do take a lot of time, but I'm getting better about it.

  6. That's definitely a unique tan line! I have to runfess that I never seem to know what's going on, and was vaguely wondering why I kept seeing Little Miss everywhere. I'm looking forward to hearing more about your trip- it looks amazing.

    1. It was such an amazing trip. I'm always surprised that after all this time, we outdo ourselves. Wow.

  7. I like to take a break from running now and again, which should be pretty obvious. When you choose to do it's a different ball game.

Don't really care about IG. Rarely look at it (like, never unless I need to contact someone I only know through there).

    1. Not quite sure how to respond, but I'm glad that what you do works for you.

  8. No on the Reels. Don't plan to do any. I runfess. I don't watch them either.

I like IG. A fast and easy way to post fun pics.

Waterskiing is much more fun than running. And you only do it in the summer.... What fun time you had with Holly.

  9. The Reels are just too much...I hate that I have to do them in order for my content to be seen. I think they're just trying too hard to compete with TikTok and alienating their users.

I don't blame you for choosing the water over running, especially in this weather! Glad you had a great time!

Congrats on your race! Glad the taping is working. I've found it helpful but you're right...it's gotta be applied just right!

    1. I'm going to have to tape again tonight--the knee is unhappy.

  10. I fought the reels for a long time, but caved last year. I can tolerate them in small doses, but the peeps who post ONLY reels really annoy me. There's a reason I never joined the TikTok gig, LOL I have run only twice this week (with a grand total of six miles logged, thank you very much), and was so busy on the bike, the lack-luster mileage didn't mean anything. It's okay for runners to embrace other avenues of fitness ;-)

    1. I was happy to run again this week. I've been running so long that it's just like breathing, I guess.

  11. I'm obviously not a social media person because I had to look up IG, and I still don't know what a Reel is. Probably showing my age. All I do is Facebook and find even that overwhelming at times. I would be a very lonely blogger :).

    1. I save FB for my family and friends. IG is my fitness account. I like to keep them separate!

  12. loving the tan line!! tell me you're a runner without telling me you're a runner!!

Are you guys just getting Little Miss and Mister? I am sure these were super popular over here (especially in the UK) like 10 - 15 years ago! not that I don't like them, I do, so it's nice to see :)

I'm so annoyed with Instagram right now. I just can't keep up. I want to see my friends photos. I watch videos on tiktok. I'm sure I'll get over it at some point though.

I so don't blame you for spending time on the water. Ain't NOTHING wrong with that.

(what's the deal with people stopping you/us while on a run??? )

  13. I'm still in love with those murals. Did the runner with the stroller join you for the whole run or just for the photo? (which is a fabulous one!)
I runfess that I grew up with Roger Hargreaves' Mr Men books as a kid - but I haven't seen the memes yet! I'll look out for them now.

    1. I remember the Little Mr memes from the past. But it's fun to see them come back as Little Miss!

When are you coming to Chicago? I think a running art tour is going to be a must. And the stroller lady was just walking by and I asked if she wanted to join us. It was so fun!

  14. Im posting more Reels. It's not my favorite, but they can be fun to make and it's all part of the job, right?
