Product Review: SAM 2.0

Disclaimer: I received the SAM 2.0 device in exchange for my honest review. All opinions are mine.

It's been almost 7 years since I was diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis. I don't keep my diagnosis a secret, sharing my mostly ups and occasional downs with this chronic inflammatory disease. Thankfully, I haven't had too many problems with pain or mobility.

Over the past year, despite taking Humira every other week, I've struggled more with knee pain. When I was contacted by the company to trial their sam 2.0 device, the timing couldn't have been more perfect. I try to avoid taking NSAIDS or steroids, and the sam 2.0 sounded like a great alternative. The device requires a prescription, and once that was completed, I received my unit! I started using it right away, and I could not be happier with the results!

sam 2.0 is not a pain-masking treatment, like topical gels, creams, or rubs. The acronym 'sam' stands for sustained acoustic medicine, which provides mechanical ultrasound waves to promote recovery. These ultrasound waves generate a convective flow, known as acoustic streaming, which enhances heat and circulation, thereby promoting natural healing and tissue regeneration. sam 2.0 also reduces inflammation.

sam 2.0 is certified by the Arthritis Foundation for ease of use, and I concur with that assessment. After receiving sam 2.0, I followed the easy-to-follow instructions on the quick start card to apply the pads and start my treatment. Within 5 minutes, I was ready to go. I've been using sam 2.0 for about two weeks, and I've noticed a significant difference in my knee pain after using it. The treatment is painless. The device is wearable, featuring a clip on the case that allows me to attach it to the waist of my pants. There's about 3 feet of cord between the applicators, so you can move about your day while wearing it. The device can be set for 1, 2, 3, or 4 hour treatments. sam 2.0 holds a charge for about 6 hours and charges quickly between uses.

sam 2.0 is the only FDA-cleared long-duration ultrasound device for home use. Studies funded by the NIH and the US Army have proven the device's effectiveness in chronic and arthritis pain. In addition, sam 2.0 is the number one prescribed ultrasound device in the professional sports industry.

I've been really pleased with the sam 2.0 device. I've found it to provide great pain relief for my arthritis pain as well as my injury. Its ease of use and portability make it an attractive option for a home pain relief device. I also like that it has reduced my use of NSAIDs--we all know that taking those meds often is not good for our stomachs! sam 2.0 isn't going to cure my arthritis, but using it as I start my day makes it a lot easier to complete my workouts and get through my day at work. When I'm using sam 2.0 to treat my arthritis, I apply one pad to each knee near the area of concern. The company cautions not to apply the applicators directly over bone.

Currently, I am using sam 2.0 to help heal a tendon injury in my left knee. I figure that if sam 2.0 is good enough for professional athletes, it's good enough for this amateur aging athlete! I'm applying both pads to the injured knee near the area of concern.

To be completely transparent, my only complaint about sam 2.0, and it is not insignificant, is the cost of the replacement gel capture patches. The patches are one-time use only. To learn more about this, I reached out to my contact at the company. She explained that the reimbursement cost of the replacement patches depends on each individual insurance company and that they are working with insurance companies to secure broader reimbursement. The goal of the company is to make sam 2.0 an affordable, long-term solution as an alternative to more costly, invasive procedures. In my opinion, it would be great if the company could develop a reusable pad, not only to lower the cost but to be more sustainable.

Overall, I wholeheartedly recommend the sam 2.0 device. After multiple uses, I can honestly say that I had very good pain relief. I like that sam 2.0 is an alternative to systemic medications and that it has no side effects. sam 2.0 is easy to use. You can use the device for all kinds of injuries and pain. If sam 2.0 is something you want to try, you can reach out to the company HERE to begin the process by setting up a physician consult. Once that is complete, your order will be sent. You may also want to explore if your HSA or FSA plan will cover the device.

Have you ever received ultrasound as a treatment for an injury or joint pain? If so, did you find it effective? Would you ever want to have a device where you could do this treatment at home? I posted a reel on IG as well with the application procedure if you want to see how truly easy sam 2.0 is to use!

Let me know if you have any questions!
