5 Songs That Will Make Your Runs Happy

As part of my resolve to stay more positive, I've been deleting some of my so-called angry music from my running playlist and adding more positive, upbeat songs. No worries, I don't have any elevator music on here. I've always run to rock and I need songs with a good beat to push me forward. I don't have any pop songs, either, I'm all about a strong melody and a motivating message.

Here are 5 of my latest additions to my running playlist. These songs make my heart and my sole happy!

Fastest Girl in Town--Miranda Lambert
The party girl delivers with a fun, rocking country song!
"Ain't no use in tryin' to slow me down...'Cause you're runnin' with the fastest girl in town..."
That's right...

I Feel It--Avid Dancer
This song just flows and so do my legs when I run with it!

Freedom '90!--George Michael
Gone but not forgotten. This song made it's way back onto my playlist after he passed away in December. What a great tune! And who doesn't love a good bass riff? Umm hmm....

Stompa--Serena Ryder
"Gotta get up, listen to me, clappa your hands, stompa your feet."

No Sweat--Montolieu ft. Desi Valentine
I heard this song on a FitBit commercial and knew I needed it for my playlist. Do you ever hear a song on a commercial and try to figure out who the artist is? Did you know Siri can do that for you?

Anyways, the lyrics speak for themselves. The beat makes me move.

What songs are making you move and groove?

I'm linking up with Janelle, Steff, and Kim for Tunes Tuesday as well as Running on Happy and Fairytales and Fitness for the Friday Five 2.0!

  1. Great list! I've gotten lazy about playlists. I listen to ones I made a few years ago or try to find something on Amazon Prime. The Hamilton Soundtrack is still my favorite but I'm trying not to play it too much because I plan in to be the soundtrack for my NYC Half. ;-)

    1. I've been using Amazon Prime more but they still don't have the selection that I find on Spotify!

  2. SO many songs!!!...and a lot of mine are "angry" because it works! :-) and yes, I often ask Siri or Alexa (my Amazon Echo) what the song is on a commercial! Just another great thing about technology. Thanks for these songs...I love the Fitbit one!!!!

  3. Oooh she's a little bit country! I've definitely heard the Fitbit one. And of course George Michael. Sigh.

  4. YES! I have to add Freedom to my playlist :) Thanks for linking up for TunesTuesday :)

  5. I only knew the GM song! I love all kinds of music but what gets me going are usually angry songs or a good old fashioned 80's playlist! I like a bit heavier music anyway, so one of my favorite running/workout songs is Juke Joint Jezebel by KMFDM. But also love mainstream dance music/ pop like Katy Perry and Pink. The other day I listened to U2 favorites on spotify. I actually choose random things sometimes on spotify and am generally pleasantly surprised!

    1. Isn't it fun to find new songs that haven't been overplayed on the radio?

  6. Hmmmm. I only know one of those songs! I really must listen to music more. I need an Alexa, although there's the creep factor with the stuff it stores too. But it would probably get me to listen to music more.

It's not that I don't like it, it's just a matter of plugging in the ipod, getting it started. Which obviously isn't so strenuous.

    1. Since I carry my phone with me on my runs, it's not a big deal.

  7. Some of these are new to me and I can always use an update thanks for the ideas. Have a wonderful weekend

  8. Sadly the only song I knew on your list was the George Michael one and even then I'm not sure if it is the one I'm thinking of..lol. Thanks for linking up!

  9. I must be happily enjoying life in my own Twilight Zone, because George Michael is the only song I recognize. I need to get out more.....

  10. I have never heard of any of these songs! Lately I have been listening to Gaga! Have a good weekend, Wendy!

  11. I'm all about a strong message over pop songs too. The words motivate me more than the beat. That Miranda Lambert song is on a lot of my running playlists.

  12. George Micheal is the only one I know....but I'm in grad school so I blame my lack of current music on that. My son created a Spotify playlist for me for Christmas, of songs that reminded him of me, or songs he thought I would like. It had Justin Timberlake singing a cover of "September" by Earth, Wind, and Fire. I really like that one. I'll give your picks a listen. Btw, I'm enjoying beets!

    1. I actually had September (the original) on my playlist in the fall!

  13. Ooooh I don't have any of these on my playlist! Need to check out that No Sweat song!

  14. This made me laugh! I listen to alternative and classic rock (mainly) and my playlists contain very angry music as well. It is funny, though, because I have a playlist of showtunes that I used to listen to as well. I have moved away from music since last fall and am listening to podcasts--something I didn't ever think I would do. The result = more relaxed running but a little slower. I am OK with that, however, because when I go out on my runs I get much more lost in the conversation than I ever did with my music. P.S. can't ever go wrong with George Michael--EVER!

    1. One of the reasons I haven't gone to podcasts is the very reason you mention. I do like my angry music. It's a little jarring to go from George Michael to one of my rock songs, but it keeps me paying attention!

  15. Great choices! I don't run with music, but I sometimes wonder if I should to help propel me along. I do enjoy the peace and quite, and of course always worry about safety with music in my ears...

  16. I don't have any of these! But I also haven't really been listening to music because of my workout routine at the moment--more podcasts.

  17. I have a LOT of angry music, but I don't feel like they put a negative spin on my blossoming positivity. I'm into Ed Sheeran right now. His song "Castle on a Hill" is a great running song.

    1. Right? I will check out Ed Sheeran's song. I used to have "Sing" (by him--not the Carpenters)on my playlist, which was a good running song too.

  18. I'm all about new music suggestions, so I'll definitely check some of these out! And yes, I always hear songs on commercials, movies or TV shows and think 'I NEED that for my playlist'! I use the shazam app ALL the time to tell me the song and artist... I've even been browsing in a store, heard a song I liked playing overhead and "shazamed" it right there! :)

  19. Awesome songs! I like my angry music, there is one song I have that reminds me to sometimes I need to stay angry.

The three songs that are making me move right now are Ay Mi Dios by Yandel and Pitbul, Vaiven by Daddy Yankee and Salsa Con Coco by Pochi y su Cocoband.

  20. Thanks for the suggestions. My music is getting stale. I need some new tunes.

  21. I listen to a lot of country when I run which I don't think is normal! But I have an app called Fit Radio, and they curate playlists based on genre, run tempo, or other workout. So I have a constant supply of country playlists at tempo :)

  22. Oh my goodness thank you for the George Michael flashback! I'll be adding that one to my playlist :)

  23. Those are some good... all new to me except for the GM... I had a couple of his already on my playlist, but will have to add this one!

    ReplyDelete
  24. Always great to add new songs! I haven't heard that George Michael one in a long time.

  25. Not a single one of these is on my playlist! I'm going to give them all a listen and see what fits in with what I have.

  26. I dont think Ive heard any of these! I love adding new songs to my playlist, especially now that Ive been stuck indoors on the bike.

  27. Freedom!! Other than that, I haven't heard of any of them... which is funny because no one has seen any of the movies I posted! We are a bunch of uncultured run bloggers!!!

  28. You know Miranda's tunes kick ass! I would add a couple more!

    ReplyDelete
  29. I do like Miranda Lambert! I have never been a big fan of angry music, tends to make me feel crazy :) I do like happy move it music. I like that Fitbit song.. I hadn't heard that one yet.

  31. For running I need something with a faster beat and that feels like dancing. I like anything with Pitbull.

  32. Nice list! I'm a hard rock kind of girl, so I like Fall Out Boy, Jimmy Eat World, Foo Fighters, etc. I only run with music on the treadmill, but having the right music is important!
