Things that Make Me Go OOooh!

Disclaimer: I received a pair of OOfos Sandals in exchange for my honest review.

Feeling good and back at it again this week! There was so much to OOh about. Spring is finally here and along with that warmer temperatures. Best of all, RA, while still making its presence known, has simmered down to low. That in itself was a reason to go oooh!

The week in workouts:
Monday: 8 mile run
Tuesday: rest day
Wednesday: 5 mile run
Thursday: strength training and boot camp
Friday: rest day
Saturday: yoga
Sunday: run rest

March total miles: 69

Running:
With the Lakefront 10 miler coming up in a week, I needed to test my endurance. Since I have been struggling so much with RA lately, I was considering dropping down to the 5k. On Monday, I set out to run 6 miles, but I felt so good that I pushed it to 8, using run/walk intervals the whole time. I've had so many ups and downs lately that I just never know what to expect from a run. Let's hope I feel this good next Saturday. By contrast, Wednesday's run felt hard! I was able to push myself to run 5, but feeling frustrated, I stopped midway to play on the monkey bars at the park! I was pleasantly surprised by how good that felt. It put a smile on my face and that always helps make a run feel better.

Swinging from the monkey bars made me go OOh!
CrossFit:
After taking a week off, I was ready for whatever Sammy Jo threw at me. She had me do a pyramid workout of back squats at 60% of my max alternating with ring rows. I begged her for some pull-up work--who am I? This was the first time I did them with the resistance band and I was able to do 3 sets of 4 in a row. Strict pull-ups--I'm coming for you!!

Feeling all the OOh at CrossFit this week!
Yoga:
I did yoga last Sunday and with the thought that doing some deep stretching made my Monday run easier, I repeated that on Saturday with a class from Yoga with Adrienne. So many people have recommended her YouTube classes and I have to agree--she is great!

This sunrise in the fog made me go OOh!

What's making you go OOooh? I Tried It! @oofos /via @oldrunningmom #runchat

OOfos OOlala Geo Sandal

When OOfos reached to ask if I wanted to try their new OOlala Geo Sandal, I didn't think twice. I have a very worn, tired pair of OOfos and was looking to replace them. I absolutely loved those old OOfos. They got me through many adventures and a few bouts with plantar fasciitis. My new OOfos got me through my recent adventure-filled week in Florida. I wore them everywhere! What is it about OOfos that makes my feet go OO? Is it the OOfoam that absorbs 37% more impact than traditional footwear materials? Is it the light weight of the sandals? Is it the style? All I know is that when I slip these sandals on, my feet go OOooh! My OOfos are the most comfortable footwear I own.

Even better, every pair of OOfos contributes 3% of the purchase price towards breast cancer research. So far, OOfos has donated over $130,000 to the Dana-Farber Breast Cancer Research Team.

The OOlala Geo Sandals come in a variety of colors. OOfos also offers other styles for both women and men. I don't have a discount coupon to share but OOfos offers free shipping and returns on all their items. OOfos are also available at many retailers including REI and RoadRunnerSports. It's time to feel the OO!

What made you go OOooh this week? Is anyone joining me at the Lakefront 10 miler next Saturday? Pull-ups--yay or nay? What goals are you coming close to achieving? Have you tried OOfos?

I'm lining up with Deborah and Kim for the Weekly Rundown. Be sure to congratulate both of them on their Cherry Blossom Half Marathon!

  1. I'm so glad you had a good week with your running and play and workouts! I wonder if I could do the monkey bars now...I used to play on them until my hands were blistered when I was a kid!

    1. When the boys were little, I tried swinging with them and I couldn't! So it feels pretty good to be able to do it now.

  2. My lifelong dream is to be able to do a pull-up. I've been working on the component parts for a few weeks (just hanging on the bar and negatives). I can do both a lot better than I could when I started so that's something. I've heard so many good things about oofos, but flip flops and slides don't work for my feet. The second they come up with a strappy sandal I'll be in 100%. I might try their regular shoes the next time I need a pair.

Good luck on your race next week!!!

  3. A great week and love you on the monkey bars, plus that atmospheric misty picture. I have some friends with PF who swear by Oofos sandals. I liked my old Sketchers rocking sandals but they don't make them any more. Glad the RA has flared down again.

    1. That fog was mesmerizing! I was happy to catch the sun rising at just the perfect time that morning.

  4. I love my Oofos! Unfortunately so does my cat...he's ruined 2 pair so far!

Playing on Monkey Bars is so fun, that's why I love the OCR workouts I've been doing. It's really not like a workout but more like playing!

  5. I am glad that your Monday run went so well. It's nice when you end up running longer than expected!

I have a pair of Oofos sandals and I absolutely love them! My feet appreciate them very much, especially after a race or long run :)

  6. OOfos are the BEST! I have a pair from a few years ago, and they are still in decent shape...and so comfy! That said, I wouldn’t mind a second pair....

Glad to hear things were feeling better this week. Good luck at the Wintrust Lakefront! Thanks for linking with us!

  7. Even without an illness, some runs are just hard. Not always a rhyme or reason. Wed's run -- although short! -- was harder. Probably harder than my 5 mile race today.

Those OOfoos are pretty. I used to love them, but they tend to make my achy foot ache more. Although it's actually a lot better now, so maybe this summer I can actually wear them again!

  9. I runfess I'd forgotten about my Oofos. Time to dig those suckers out. I'd join you on the Lakefront if I didn't have a friend's daughter's Bat Mitzvah to attend Saturday morning. I hope the race goes well for you!

  10. I've heard such great things about OOfos! I really need to upgrade from my crappy Old Navy $1 flip flops. Hey, I do have a birthday coming up. Maybe that's what I should ask for!

  12. I love my Oofos - I'm probably due for a fresh pair. I hope the RA stays low and you can enjoy the Lakefront 10M next weekend. I was reminded today that 10M is pretty far! Way to go on the pull-ups! I can do one chin-up and 3/4 of a pull up. ;-)

    1. Yeah, the knowledge of having to run 10 is weighing on my mind! I'm going to draw on that 8 miler I did last Monday and hope I can channel some of that to get me to the finish line with a time I can be proud of!

  13. I have heard lots of good things about Yoga With Adrienne too.I am going to have to give her classes a try sometime. I have been loving 5 Parks Yoga lately. I loved seeing photos of you playing on the monkey bars. I do that too whenever I take the grandkids to the park. They think I am crazy and they are probably right! :) Good luck with your 10-miler next weekend!

  14. I'm still on the prowl for my first pull up - DAMMIT! Why are they so stinkin' hard?!?! I hope you and me both get our first un-assisted soon. Love the Oofos - so comfy!

    1. It's so weird because there's a woman in my bootcamp class who can pull them out like no big deal--but she's not very muscular. How does that even make sense?

  15. I love OOFOS! I've been wearing a pair of mine today as I recover from yesterday's marathon! :)

  16. Aren't Oofos the best?! You remind me that I'm due for a new pair.

I'm so glad this week was much better for you! Good luck with the upcoming 10 miler!!

  17. Those monkey bars look awesome. I have to do the same with PT exercises if I just can't focus on a run
Those OOfos look awesome. The light weight element is what I love about these random pair of Dr. Scholl's I bought last summer. I wear them EVERYWHERE because they're lightweight, yet supportive. Will look into these

  18. Spring came at us with a vengeance and, just in time for me to race 10 miles - but it was great. I absolutely LOVE anything OOfos and although I don't NEED a new pair, I'm sure I need those geo sandals :-) Here's to hoping you have an upswing in running this week and that the weather cooperates!

  19. Those sandals look great. I'm all about comfort but they are pricey and I am cheap lol

I wear Crocs (on sale) and I love them.

Yes I can never tell how a run will go. My 3 miler on Thurs was HORRIBLE!! I though about DNSing my 5 mile race but then I didn't and it went well. Go figure.

I think adrenaline has a lot to do with it so I think you should go for the 10 mile distance.

    1. I did another 8 miler today but oops I was a little dehydrated. So it was tough. I finished and yes, I'm going for the 10 mile distance.

  20. I love those Oofos!

I had a miserable five mile run on Saturday (supposed to be eight, but my buddy bailed and I just couldn't hold on to my motivation). I will make up for it at some point, but it's frustrating when things don't go right, especially when it's not in your control.

Good luck with your 10 miler!

  25. Really glad things went a bit better last week. I hope the race will be smooth sailing! Ah Yoga with Adriene was als suggested to me, maybe I'll have a gander at her videos! I oohed last week when I was able to get out and about a bit. I've had my Oofos for 3 years this May and absolutely love them. I wish I could afford a new pair. I don't think there is any charitable donation though on this side of the pond.

  26. I LOVE Yoga With Adriene! She's so awesome and her videos are great for any level. I watched a lot of her videos before even going to a real life yoga class and I felt really prepared. I have some Oofos and they are the best! I like to wear them after runs or cycling classes because they help keep my feet feeling good. I have had some issues with plantar fascitis and these help!

  29. I love my OOfos (I might just have five pairs of them!) I love the pattern on your new ones! My husband took our pull-up bar done a couple of years ago since no one was using it. I'm not sure I could even do one!
