5 Things I'd Share Over Coffee

Once again, it's time to sit down over a cup of coffee and catch up. Doesn't it seem like we just did this? Time flies, that's for sure.

Let me pour you a cup--I've still got some Starbucks Chrismas blend here. Cream and sugar? Baileys? Bourbon? Want to just skip the coffee?

Let's chat.

If we were having coffee, I'd tell you that I need some new coffee mugs. I've been super clumsy this week and I knocked 2 coffee mugs out of the cabinet. They hit the floor and broke. The next day, I knocked a bottle of vanilla extract out of the spice cabinet and it broke. My kitchen smelled really good but I was so upset--you know how expensive that stuff is! I'm not sure what's up with me, but it looks like I need to be more mindful...
If we were having coffee, I'd talk about the holidays and how fast they went. It seems like it was just Thanksgiving and now the stores already have Valentine's Day displays. It seems like we just go from one holiday to the next. It took me a while to get my house ready for Christmas and now it's time to put it all away! I still have my Christmas tree up. I need time for transitions!

Speaking of Christmas, if we were having coffee, I'd share my excitement over my sister's engagement! She's been dating this great guy for about 5 years and he surprised us all with his proposal the week after Christmas. We couldn't be happier for both of them!
If we were having coffee, we'd have to talk about the weather. Yes, we've had brutally cold weather here in the midwest. Yes, it's colder here than Antarctica. But the sun is shining. It could be worse. We could be getting hit with a bomb cyclone, whatever that is. Sounds bad, and I hope all of you on the east coast stay warm and safe.
If we were having coffee, I'd talk about work and how unhappy I am right now. You know I like to keep a sense of humor about things, but our office manager doesn't think I'm very funny. So I'm thinking that this coffee mug might not go over well..
What would you tell me over coffee? Do you have any funny coffee mugs I can add to my collection?

I'm linking up with Running on Happy and Fairytales and Fitness for the Friday 5.0 as well as Deborah and Coco for the Ultimate Coffee Date!

  1. Oh gosh...those mugs! ;-) Sorry things are not so peachy at the job, total bummer. I'm amazed I have not broken more of my coffee mugs, because every time I open the cabinet, I hear things shifting inside. Thankfully, nothing (yet) has jumped out at me because my response time leaves much to be desired. I still have my Christmas trees (and all decorations) up as well...that's my Saturday project.

  2. Congrats to your sister!

Question, being in healthcare and seeing sick patients, how do you manage not to get sick? I went to the doctor a couple days ago and EVERYONE in the waiting room looked like death and had a terrible cough. How do drs/nurses not get sick?

    1. I do get sick on occasion. I was really worried about how it was going to work out for me after being diagnosed with RA. I did get strep throat this year, which I haven't had since I was about 8. I wash my hands about 1000 times a day (and I am not exaggerating) and I make it a rule not to touch my face or eyes until I've washed again.

    2. I think I should wash my hands more at school. I do shower as soon as I get home. I'm glad you don't get sick a ton!

    3. I think schools are like petri dishes--kids are so bad about touching everything and not washing their hands. I bet its actually less germy at my office!

  3. Since I collect mugs, I have more than enough (and a few have bit the dust over the years, sadly). They are collected on my travels, and all are very precious to me. Simba took out a few over the years, too.

I go through periods of clumsiness & breaking things. Part of why I hate a tile floor in the kitchen.

    Congrats to your sister! Awesome!

We didn't get that much snow, really. But it lasted all day. Mr. Judy cleared the driveway at about 8 pm but forget to do the backyard for the dogs. I will have to get out there in the wind & cold & shovel them some paths & pitstops. But I am grateful he did the driveway!

    1. While these mugs weren't special to me, they were awesome Life is Good mugs. Thick and heavy, perfect for coffee. I'll just have to find some new ones!

  4. Congrats to your sister that should be fun for you all to plan together. I am sorry that you are so unhappy at work right now. That's got to be so draining for someone who is always looking on the bright side of things.Maybe she will get a better offer and move on! Thanks for joining for coffee!

  5. I'll take some coffee with cream and sugar. Sorry to hear things are not going well at work. I hope things do get better as it does suck to go to be unhappy at work.

Looks like we'll get some warmer weather next week. I think I saw 40s in there.

  6. If we were having coffee I’d say fill it to the rim! Love my coffee!!! Clumsiness, i got it!!! Bump into things all the time. Damn that hurts! Totally agree Christmas came & went so fast this year. I’m waiting till mid Jan. before taking down. Also this brutal weather is freezing cold....I’m tired of running on treadmill, can’t wait till it warms up!!! I need some vitamin D!

    1. Yeah, you know I can't do the treadmill! I've been bundling up and heading out. With the sun shining, it hasn't been so bad. Seriously!

  7. Best wishes to your sis! That's exciting! I broke one of my fave mugs I got at the Lincoln Presidential Museum. It said First Lady or something like that and I was sick when it was gone and they didn't have another. I runfess I'm feeling a little left out of that bomb cyclone. Who doesn't want one of those??

    1. Well, I think we need to run that Lincoln Half and get you a new mug! Not to mention a penny medal.

  8. Haha when I read you dropped the bottle of vanilla, I immediately thought of how expensive it is!!! Two years ago the fellows bought all of the NNPs coffee mugs with memes of themselves on them. On mine, I'm holding a glass of wine in one hand and a tropical drink in the other, and am surrounded by flames--they said because work is my hell! Ha! I feel you on the job thing...

  10. In my decluttering project, I've got some great Starbucks mugs up for sale... in case you keep up your streak hahahaha!

    congrats to your sister!!

I was in Dusseldorf for NYE and they drink Glühwein all night there... even at midnight. So we participated as well. They had these mugs that say "Glüh dich glūcklich" (Glüh (wine) yourself Happy). We totally brought one home and I will be using THAT as my coffee mug in the office next week!

I'm also struggling with the work situation. But I'm working on it. Just updated my profile in Linkedin and reached out to about 6 people I know who work at a particular sports company that I'd like to get a job at. I'm not counting on it, but it's good to start the process!

Now, I'll take that coffee black, please :)

  11. Hey I would love to get rid of some mugs! I don't drink coffee so I really only need like 4 and that would be for guest..haha
Congrats to your sister! Will you be involved in helping her plan a wedding?
Sorry work is not going well.

  13. Ugh to work stress - and people who don't get you.

I just rearranged my cupboard due to overflowing coffee mugs. It's an addiction, I can't help it, even though I try to use restraint. I LOVE THEM ALL AND NONE SHALL BE BANISHED.

    Big congrats to your sister!

  26. You can have some of my mugs. Lol! They are out of control and won’t fit in my cupboard so I end up using the same one everyday purely because I leave it out cause it won’t fit. So I’ve got like 80 mugs but use 1.

  29. Not feeling happy at work can be such a weight to carry (I went through a transition when I moved to NH - it got better, but it was never as good as the job/people I left in OH). I hope things get better for you soon. Glad that the holidays brought you lots of cheer!

I'm sorry that things aren't going so well at work. You should be at a point in your career, especially doing what you do, that things should be smooth. I hope it all works out (or you get out, if necessary).

  34. Vanilla extract is terribly expensive, so I understand!! If it makes you feel any better, I once did the same thing with a mostly-full bottle of soy sauce. Our kitchen smelled funny for a few days and when we moved houses I found glass from the bottle underneath where the refrigerator had been!

  35. My favorite mug says "My happiness and job performance are influenced more by caffeine than any other factor." Sadly true some days LOL.

This weather is crazy. My house is not designed to stay warm when the temp is in the single digits! Our gas bill is going to be crazy. (As is the electric bill because I have to warm up my treadmill before I can turn it on LOL.)

  36. Okay, first off ...you're boss must be a real stick in the mud because I can't imagine anyone not finding you funny!! As to taking the Christmas decorations down ...I would've taken our tree down the very next day if the family would've let me. Once Christmas is over, I'm ready for it all to go away. I did have mine down and all decorations stored in the attic on Dec. 30!! Does that make me a scrooge???

    1. I've had years where I can't wait to get the stuff put away and then years where I like to enjoy the decorations a little longer. I finally got the tree put away today. And now, back to real life.
