The end of the month also signals the opening of the Runfessional. Yep, it's time to runfess. Marcia hosts this cleansing of the soles and let me tell you, it feels good.
What do you have to runfess?
Everything I tell Cocoa stays in the vault. |
I runfess.. that for the third time, I was sentenced to WordPress jail. WP uses anti-spam software to prevent spammers from posting on their blogs. After contacting the company, I was told that spammers have been using my IP address. I've been removed me from the block list, but I'm sure it's just a matter of time before it happens again. Know this, my friends: I always comment on my favorite blogs and I always reciprocate if you comment on mine. If you don't see a comment from me, check your spam file--that's where I live, apparently!
Last week, I posted a photo of deadlift on IG that drew a rude comment. The weight was heavy and I was grimacing. It was real and it wasn't pretty. Mr. Troll has commented on my weight lifting before. I find it interesting that Mr. Troll has no photos of himself on his account. I runfess that I left a sharp reply to his comment and haven't heard anything from him since.
The Shamrock Shuffle last Sunday was an absolute blast. I'll be posting my recap this weekend. I runfess that on my way out of the finisher chute, I saw a woman who I thought was Deena Kastor and started to walk up to her, arms open. As I got closer, yeah, not so much. For one, she was about 6 feet tall...delirious much?
Did you read my recap of my Florida vacation? My sons and I were on the go the entire week. We had all the adventures! I runfess that I didn't run much in Florida and didn't miss it at all. I reminded myself that running gives me the stamina to do all the things we did.

Have you ever had trouble leaving comments on blogs? Problems with trolls on social media? Mistaken a person for a celebrity? Will you still love me if I'm not running? What do you have to runfess?
I'm linking up with Marcia for Runfessions and Fridays with Fairytales and Fitness. Have a great weekend!
I’m not running much right now. I have no plans to run a whole lot in the near future. I’m still here! I feel sure that you’ll get through this flare & run more.
ReplyDeleteI don’t think i’ve ever mistaken someone for a celebrity but i’ve definitely walked up to people thinking I knew them only to find out I didn’t.
I’ve been pretty lucky on the troll front so far. I do keep getting men trying to friend me on IG & FB. Not hordes, but enough. Ones that don’t seem to have a connection. I don’t get it!
I'm still scratching my head over the men trying to friend me on Words With Friends. IT's so weird! You know women would never do that.
DeleteI think my social media footprint is too small to attract trolls. I guess being unknown has its advantages. I'm sorry you're struggling and hope you feel better, but shorter runs will leave you more time for other things you enjoy.
ReplyDeleteI don't think so! I'm not very big, but hey, creepy people are out there.
DeleteI hate that RA is kicking your butt :( I am hoping for steroids and relief for you asap!
ReplyDeleteKicking butt and taking names, sadly...I'll get on top of it!
DeleteOK WTF with the IG troll? What is wrong with people? Good for you for responding back. I think you are looking great in your lifting posts. So sorry about the flare. Hoping it will be short-lived.
ReplyDeleteThis guy has been on my radar for a while. He's a creeper. But I think he's gone now.
DeleteOh, yes! Thanks for the reminder to check my spam folder. I almost always find some legitimate responses to comments in there. I was having trouble with another running blogger's comments always winding up in my spam folder. So frustrating!
ReplyDeleteSorry to read that your RA is flaring up.
It's not fun being the queen of spam!
DeleteI've been having issues commenting on blogs when I'm on Chrome. Firefox doesn't seem to be a problem. It's probably something with my computer since this has never happened before (it's only in recent months). Not a crisis, but an annoyance none-the-less. There are a handful of blogs that are very "user unfriendly" where I have to comment under my Twitter name or it bounces me out. First world probs LOL Sorry the RA is being such a pain, literally.
ReplyDeleteI haven't considered using my Twitter name! But if it's my IP address that's marked, that won't work either...
DeleteI am a hard time with longer runs myself and I plan to back off a bit after cherry blossom and bike a lot more this summer. If someone writes a rude comment on my IG I will just delete it and block them. You don't need that mostly because you are a bad ass and my bad ass friend. I missed that photo but I am headed there now to comment. Head high squats low
ReplyDeleteI was going to just delete and block but I won't lie, it was fun just messing with the jerk!
DeleteI laughed so hard at your comment to the IG troll - it made my day, LOL. I hate that people feel like they can be rude and just say whatever they want, and his comment didn't even make sense!
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear about the WP issues :( Hackers and spammers always are such a huge pain in the ass!
It was odd, wasn't it?
DeleteHow weird about the WP jail. Fingers crossed it doesn’t happen again! And boo to the rude comment on the post :(. Some people have too much time on their hands if they can just spend it trolling others on the internet.
ReplyDeleteI hope that for now I can keep commenting on WP blogs freely!
DeleteI seemed to be blocked from leaving comments on some blogs but not others. Not all are Word Press, some are Blogger. I haven't really tried to get out of jail, maybe I should!
ReplyDeleteI have no March runfessions because I haven't been running due to injury. Lots of cycling going on but cyclefession doesn't have the same ring.
Glad that you're able to cycle at least!!!
DeleteNever heard of WP jail but then I'm on Blogger and they let every comment come through time after time even when I mark them as spam, so apparently there's no happy medium.
ReplyDeleteGood lord with the troll comment, really?? What an ass.
I spent the last year running shorter distances and that was what I needed. Maybe you just need a change as well; it's hard to try and be the same runner all the time especially when your circumstances change as drastically as yours have.
I do love the long distance runs but since my body seems to be rebelling, it looks like short distances are in my future once I recover from the flare.
DeleteUgh that troll really pisses me off. I don't understand how people can be so rude! I was pretty delirious at the Shuffle too, I would have made the same mistake!
ReplyDeleteI didn't run anywhere as fast as you! I have no excuse for my delirium.
DeleteI'm sorry you're struggling - I hope you get some relief soon!
ReplyDeleteI really don't understand trolls - really what's the point of leaving negative comments on someone else's effort?! Good for you for firing back at them.
I am on some new meds, so we'll see...
DeleteWe need to remember that running can be part of our life but not our whole life. I think cutting back is just fine and is exactly what ibe been doing. I haven't been on social media a lot lately ( another thing I'm cutting back on) so I did not know you were in Florida with your boys. How fun!
ReplyDeleteSorry about those rude trolls. Do you think it is a real person's account or just spam?
It was a real person and he posts stuff about running. But apparently he thinks it's ok to make rude comments on other people's posts--it wasn't the first time. Pretty sure he's single.
Deletewill you still love ME if I'm not running? because yes I will still love you :)
ReplyDeleteI can't say I ever seen a celebrity from a distance and then started walking up to them, no... I am one of those people who basically freak out when I see someone famous. Except that time when I met Lisa Stansfield and we spent the evening drinking gin & tonics and I pretended that she was already my BFF.
nothing wrong with stepping back a bit - hopefully the flare will be over soon and you'll be able to get more miles in. just don't sweat it too much. you always bounce back! it's what you do!
(my blog is finally updated and moved - I'm over at runlaugheatpie.com now!)
I think you need to share that Lisa Stansfield story! LOL
DeleteOf course I'll still love you and I'm heading to the new blog as we speak!
Really? Spammers USED your IP address?? Ugh! I swear what next? So sorry you're not feeling great post-Shuffle. That's a huge bummer. I hope you'll be able to roll with your body's punches vs giving up distance running entirely.
ReplyDeleteIt was simmering for a while and apparently the Shuffle put me over the top. Who knew? I'm definitely stepping back on distance for a while until I figure this thing out. Short distances sound good to me right now!
DeleteI haven't been running much this month either. I actually DNS'd a race this morning on purpose. I just didn't feel up to running 13.1 miles today. I'm also struggling with anything over 5-6 miles. Running for an hour is fun but anything more than an hour is like torture to me. Sometimes focusing on something else for a while helps!
ReplyDeleteAlso screw Mr. Troll. People usually post demeaning things when they are envious of your success.
I hope that my endurance comes back--I've got some halfs on the calendar and I don't want to DNS...
DeleteHope you claw some energy back soon! I had a very annoying troll who was commenting nasty things on my and particularly some book blogger friends' blogs (the same one who told me off for having too many selfies on mine). The comments on my friends' posts were nastier and nastier so I got the email address and sent a cease and desist email on all our behalves. They pretended to send an auto bounce back but spelled it wrong, doh, and so I wrote back calling them out on that ... and we have had NOTHING since!!!
ReplyDeleteGood for you! I just wonder what is wrong with these people?
DeleteGlad you put the IG jerk in his place. I don’t know what he said but I think you are a badasss!
ReplyDeleteNothing wrong with 3 mile runs but I hope the RA settles down soon.
Today was a better day! Hoping for more of them.
DeleteWendy, I know how much running means to you, so I hate to read that you think you may have to cut out longer distances. Keep in mind: #whatyoucanwhenyoucan is a great motto to have! I say it to myself all the time now that I am not running. Movement is still movement (and sneak in those runs/races when you can)! As for trolls, I moderate a weekly Twitter chat, and sometimes we have trolls "pop in". I just block them and keep moving! Sorry someone thought he needed to tell you anything about your form or weightlifting. *eye roll*
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for weighing in. I like your motto and I'm going to use it. Today I ran 8 miles. Where that came from, I have no idea. I could have gone further. This disease has baffled me. A week ago, I thought I was going to have to DNS my upcoming 10 miler, today it seems that it's doable. Fingers crossed. XOXO
