Mother's Day Gift Suggestions for the Active Mom

This post contains affiliate links.

In case you didn't know it, Mother's Day is coming up this weekend. I'm pretty sure my men are completely unaware. Real talk. In case they're paying attention, I'm going to share a couple of things that I think would be perfect for any active mom, not just me!

Mother's Day 5k
I personally think that there would be nothing better than to participate in a Mother's Day 5k with my sisters and mom and/or my sons. Across the country, there are tons of Mother's Day 5ks to choose from. Not a runner? Walk it with her. Go ahead, make her day.
You know you want it.

AfterShokz TrekzTitanium Mini Bone Conduction Bluetooth Headphones
You know I LOVE my Aftershokz. I've been wearing them for several years and they're still going strong. I like that they are wireless. I like that they still let in ambient noise so that I can hear what's going on around me. Best of all, I like how they sound. The mini is just the right size for a woman's smaller head.

Pedicure
This mom's feet really take a beating and there is nothing more soothing than a pampering pedicure. In fact, I'm due for one. Hint, hint. I bet your mom would love one too!

Oofos OOlala Sandals
Ever since OOfos sent me these earlier this year, I can't get enough of them. This is my second pair of OOfos and I'm definitely feeling the OO! These the comfiest flip flops I've ever worn. Don't let the cushy sole fool you though, they are supportive. These come in a variety of colors and you can bet that mom will thank you every time she slips them on!

Spibelt
I hear fanny packs are coming back. After using a SpiBelt all these years, I'm not going back to a fanny pack. The SpiBelt stays in place while you move and groove, unlike a fanny pack. The SpiBelt is sleek and stays hidden under your shirt. That's what I'm talking about! Use the code TEAMSPI to save 10%!
new fun designs plus a large size to accommodate the larger phone

Goodr Sunglasses
There are a lot of imitators, but Goodr is the original affordable, stylish, and all performance sunglasses. I purchased a pair of The Runways for $35 at the Mobile Marathon Expo and I felt like Audrey Hepburn in them. Ok, not so much, but for that price, you can purchase a pair of these stylish frames for mom.

🎶"Dontcha wish your mama looked hot like me? Dontcha?"🎶
It's the sunglasses...
Books
My motto is so many books, so little time. This seems to be the year of the running book. In years past, I struggled to find books for my running book club--now I struggle to narrow down my choices! Here are some books I'm recommending for the active mom:

Let Your Mind Run by Deena Kastor is one of my favorite running books of all time. Deena shares her life story, how she almost quit running, and how she returned to the sport with renewed mental toughness and an unflagging positive mindset. There is so much inspiration here!

Running Home by Katie Arnold is a gorgeously written memoir of anxiety, grief, and running to overcome. Arnold is an accomplished ultramarathoner and her journey is full of inspiration.

Run Fast. Cook Fast. Eat Slow. by Shalane Flanagan and Elyse Kopecky is the follow up to the successful Run Fast, Eat Slow. The new cookbook provides recipes that fueled Shalane and take less than 30 minutes to prepare. The recipes from the first cookbook were nutritious and delicious. I expect nothing less from this book.

Kindle
Mom's going to need a Kindle to read all these great books! The Kindle app is free to download to your tablet, but I'm going to put it out there: my iPad is hard to read outdoors. There is so much glare. Fortunately, the Kindle is glare-free. There are several different models, but I picked the Kindle Paperwhite for my wish list because for a little bit more $$, you get a device that is waterproof. The charge lasts for several weeks and it has WiFi connectivity.

Did you find any good ideas here? How are you celebrating Mother's Day?

  5. We will, as always, be going down to my parents for Mother's Day and taking them out for lunch along with my sister & her brood (at least I'm assuming my niece & nephew will be there, but they're adults so you never know).

I love my Kindle. Yes, I love a real book too but I always have so much trouble stuffing everything into my suitcase while traveling and I have thousands of books at my fingertips with my Kindle. I have a Paperwhite, but it's a few years old so not waterproof. But I can read before going to sleep without more blue screen exposure.

Now that I've strengthened my feet, apparently (gotta get back to those exercises soon!), I can finally wear my Oofos again. I came really close to donating them & am so glad I didn't!

    Great suggestions Wendy!

  7. I love my Kindle and Deena Kastor's book is what inspired me to attempt a BQ. So inspiring!
I will be looking into those AfterShokz next time I need new earphones.

  8. The hubby just asked me last night if I wanted to do anything special for Mother's Day. Two of the three kids are actually going to be HOME and everything. Honestly, I really don't care what we do LOL. With my parents in town, I feel like I have to celebrate the day with my mom and (sometimes) feel like my mommyhood takes a back seat. That's not a bad thing, but it's my reality. A pedicure and a new set of OOfos would do quite nicely, though...

  9. You have some great ideas for gifts! I am not a mom but would love all of these gifts. :-) I do have the book Let Your Mind Run by Deena Kastor and started reading it the other day but got distracted with something else.
