10 Great Gifts for the Runner in Your Life

Ho ho ho! A little late with my annual Holiday Gift List, I wanted to once again share some of the things I've loved over the past year as well as a few things that I'm wishing for. If you read my blog regularly, you know that I'm spending more of my time on the trails and my list reflects that! But there are items here for any kind of runner. I hope you find something for yourself or for the runner in your life.

It's not a secret that I have a sock obsession! My go-to socks for the trails are Swiftwick crew socks. Not only are they comfortable and don't give me blisters, but they also have really fun patterns! Swiftwick recently released a National Park Series and you know I ordered the Yellowstone ones. It wasn't an easy decision though, since I've been to several of the parks featured in their series. So many parks, so little time!

I purchased this Baleaf pullover earlier this fall when I needed to wear bright orange for my Wisconsin trail runs. Turns out orange isn't such a common color for running gear right now. I wasn't so sure about the brand, but after I received it, I was impressed by the quality! It's well-made, thick, and warm. I love the pass-through pocket in the front. You don't have to get orange--this top comes in a variety of colors. The price is right, too!

I love my Brooks Cascadia GTX trail shoes. They support my feet on the uneven terrain and they aren't too heavy. I prefer the GoreTex for keeping my feet dry when the trails are muddy and wet. Apparently, a lot of trail runners like these shoes as well because I had a hard time finding a link to post here! Zappos has a few pairs as does REI, but I wouldn't wait to order if you really want a pair!

Runners need comfy apres-run wear, right? I took a gamble on these Amazon pajama pants, and am I glad I did! Super soft and comfy, they are so reasonably priced that I ordered a couple more pairs! They've survived multiple washings and the fabric doesn't pill. The pants come in a variety of colors and patterns.

I've made no secret of how integral pool running has been to my recovery from my injury this year. I was gifted Fluid Running from the company and have made good use of it for the past couple of months. It's a great option for training while you are injured or if you just want a no-impact running workout. There are many classes to choose from and you can buy the whole system or just the app.

It's been a really stressful year and I am so grateful to be back running again. The road is a really good listener, isn't it? But running isn't always enough to combat stress. I was lucky to be able to trial and review the Happify app. Happify is an evidence-based app that can help you focus your thoughts to reduce negativity and anxiety. It would be a great gift to give to a loved one or to yourself! Download the app from the App Store or the Google Play Store.

I have a hard time finding gloves that I like. A few months ago, I saw these new reflective gloves from Nathan and decided to try them. They are lined and have 'Tru-Touch' technology for touch screens. I've worn mine quite a bit and I think I've found my forever gloves. I'm not thrilled about the color options, but at this point, it's more important to keep my hands warm and these gloves do a great job with that!

I couldn't share my favorite things without mentioning ChilWellness's Aspen's Maximum Relief Pain CBD Salve. This CBD-infused product works better on my achy joints than ibuprofen and without the side effects. I love it. My other 2 favorite ChilWellness products include Aspen's Maximum Relief CBD Roll-on Stick and Ultimate Mellow Mint Drops. As an RA sufferer, I can attest to their effectiveness.

Subpar Parks: America's Most Extraordinary Parks and Their Unimpressed Visitors by Amber Share is a fun compilation of all the most popular National Parks with information about each of them, accompanied by beautiful illustrations. The author also includes some negative reviews of the parks posted on the website, which are pretty funny. Be sure to check out the author's IG page as well!

What's on your holiday wish list? Are you shopping for yourself too?

I'm linking up with Kim and Zenaida for Tuesday Topics, with the Runners' Roundup: DebbieDeborahJenLaura, and Lisa.

  1. Oh that book "Subpar Parks" sounds hilarious! I love reading 1-star reviews, especially if the writers are obviously clueless.
I love that the Baleaf pullover has a pass-through pocket at the front! It must be so easy to stuff your buff, gloves or hats away in the pocket.
Do the things stay put in the pocket, even without a zipper?

    1. They do! The only thing I noted was that when i put my phone in it, it kept sliding around, which was kind of annoying. It would be better for stashing things like you mentioned--gloves, buff, hats.

  3. I have the same orange shirt - love it. Wore it on my last two races.

I could use warm gloves and new trail shoes (if I choose to run on them).

  4. I like the color of those gloves! And the pattern! I really like convertible gloves, though, so I can just flip the top when my hands warm up (if they do).

The National Park book sounds interesting, too.

    1. There is a convertible version of the gloves, but they had low ratings. I don't know why. But I will say these are plenty warm for now.

  5. These are all great ideas, especially the Happify app. I think the last two years have shown us that we have to take care of our mental health and physical health.

  9. I wonder if it says something about me that the first item I clicked on was the pajama pants? Hmmm... Also, that book sounds so great. If you go on amazon and read one star reviews, they can be pretty funny. And who leaves a bad review for a National Park? I'm sure those reviews are extra special and hilarious. I may have to get this book for myself.
